Grow lights for indoor plants
If you don't live in a tropical climate you may need artificial grow lights in order to grow plants and seedlings during the colder months of the year. This is because seedlings and plants depend upon sunshine for their growth and they need it for about 10 to 12 hours each day. For most homes in the colder climate zones of the world it is not easy to get that much lighting.
So if you want to have a nice garden with young plants each spring, you will have to provide your seedlings and plants with the correct environment during the colder months. Fortunately with the advances in technology today we find affordable plant growing lights of different types in the market for creating the right environment.
Such an affordable light you can use for this purpose is the T5 grow light bulb which emits a white spectrum light that is good for creating the required growing environment for plant seedlings. These T5 bulbs are also very energy efficient and produce little heat. However they are not without any demerits like the need to place one bulb per flat of growing seedlings.
Metal Halide light bulbs are another lighting bulb for plants. These Grow lights for indoor plants produce light that looks like the natural springtime sun emitting violet blue spectrum rays. This stimulates plant growth. As the Metal Halide lights are hot one lamp is enough to heat one room. The downside of this is you have to make sure the bulb is kept away from the plants.
High pressure sodium lights are the next types of plant lights. They offer the same benefits like the metal halide lights but emit light rays in the orange red spectrum that are similar to the natural sunlight late in the season. As they produce considerable heat, one 400 watt bulb is sufficient for a small area while a 1000 watt sodium plant light may cover a large greenhouse.
LED grow lights are also a type of plant growing light that supports enough growth in most cycles of plant's life. They are also the most energy efficient and do not produce much heat. However you will have to buy more LED grow lights if you are need to use them to light a large number of plants and place them about 11 inches away from the plants.
